When you browse
To learn which plants and ads people are interested in, our site records the pages you view, the plants you add to your cart and when you start checkout. With each, it records:
- A random ID for your browser and one for the tab, kept in your browser's storage (not a cookie). They don't identify you.
- How you found us: an ad's campaign tags or click ID, or the site that linked to us.
- Your approximate location (country, state or region, and city) and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, worked out from your connection. We don't store your IP address with these records.
Your cart is kept in your browser's storage on your device.
The waitlist
If you leave your email to hear when we open, we use it only to tell you that. We don't share it or add it to other lists.
When you order
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe gives us your name, email address and shipping address so we can send your order and write to you about it, and it works out sales tax from your address.
Our greenhouse partner pots, packs and ships your plant. We give it your name and shipping address (and phone number, if you give us one) only to deliver your order.
Ad measurement
We advertise on ChatGPT. To see whether those ads work, our site uses OpenAI's measurement pixel. It sets cookies (named __oppref and __obref) and tells OpenAI which pages you view, which plants you look at or add to your cart, and when you start checkout, with the plants, quantities and prices.
When you start checkout, our server also sends OpenAI that one event, with your IP address, your browser's user agent and those cookies, so it's counted once even if an ad blocker stops the pixel. We never send OpenAI your name, email or address. OpenAI uses this under its privacy policy.
Under some state laws, including California's, this can count as “sharing” personal information for advertising. You can turn it off below at any time.
Your privacy choices
Turn off ad measurement and this browser no longer loads OpenAI's pixel, and our server stops sending OpenAI your checkout. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it the same way, with nothing for you to do.

Who helps us
These companies process information for us, only to provide their service:
- Vercel hosts the site. Its servers handle each request, including your IP address, to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
- Neon stores our analytics records and waitlist emails.
- Stripe handles payments and sales tax.
- Our greenhouse partner pots and ships your order.
- OpenAI measures our ChatGPT ads, as described above.
How long we keep it
Analytics records and waitlist emails are kept only as long as we need them for the reasons above. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including California, you can ask us what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and opt out of its being shared for advertising. We won't treat you differently for asking.
To turn off ad measurement, use your privacy choices above.
Children
Our site isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
